Notes for GEORGE LOCKINGTON:
Went to Canada about 1845. His group landed in port Hope on the North Shore of Lake Ontario. There are some grave sites just north of there in Garden City. Some Lockingtons stayed there and others moved north to Peterborough. There are probably 200 Lockingtons all across Canada today, all related to the first George who arrived around 1845. William was a lumberjack who rode logs down the river to the sawmills near Peterborough. He lost a leg in an accident and had a "peg leg". He settled in Nassau just north of Peterborough on the Otonabee River.(Info courtesy Norman L.)
